Title

This beloved pianist - possibly the most recorded pianist of the last century - is known for his nearly "non-virtuosic" style, where he plays in a lyric manner, emphasizing the composer over technique.

He also led the acceptance of the performance of J.S. Bach on the piano - once a controversial artistic statement.

This collection features over 4 hours of glorious solo Bach, played with the touch of one of the great lyric pianists who ever recorded.

OUR REVIEW

Play to your strengths, those who say things often say. The Musical Heritage label roster has a plethora of superlative violinists. So enjoy this feast of fiddlers. A favorite - in creating this collection, I found that my previous slight prejudice against Shumsky's Bach solo recordings was utterly unfounded, so I think a travel through his Bach is rewarding. Also, the Robert Mann Mozart and Beethoven performances are a reminder of what a fine performer he was, and blessed with extraordinary accompanists, Stephen Hough and Yefim Bronfman. -- David White
