Dr. Labounsky undertook the monumental task of recording the complete organ works of Jean Langlais for the Musical Heritage Society, a landmark achievement praised for its interpretative insight and technical brilliance. Complementing her performance legacy, she authored the definitive English-language biography, "Jean Langlais: The Man and His Music," providing invaluable scholarship on the composer.
For many decades, Dr. Labounsky served as Professor and Chair of Organ and Sacred Music at the Mary Pappert School of Music, Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she is now Professor Emerita. Her tenure there significantly shaped the organ program and nurtured generations of organists, instilling in them a passion for the instrument and its rich liturgical and concert repertoire.
Her illustrious concert career has taken her to prestigious venues across North America and Europe, including performances at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, Westminster Abbey in London, and the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C., among many other significant cathedrals and concert halls. Through her performances, recordings, scholarship, and teaching, Ann Labounsky has made an enduring contribution to the world of organ music.
