Until 2020, most MHS and JHS recordings were only available through the music club, and in limited distribution worldwide. Now, MHS and JHS's award winning recordings are available all over the world. Nearly all of the recordings listed on the site can be streamed via the major services. Anything marked "exclusive" can be downloaded and played on any player, OR simply and easily streamed via Your Music Library.

  • A Seminal Recording of a Modern Classic

    Jane Carlson is, unfairly, not a name often acknowledged as one of America's great pianists. But she won the 1947 Naumberg Foundation Award, taught at Juilliard and became a specialist in the music of Paul Hindemith. Most of her career was spent in Europe, and she paid for this 1965 recording, which was released by MHS in the United States. Ludus Tonalis uses Bach's keyboard suites as inspiration - and Carlson's performance is exceptional.

  • Along with "Songs of Pomp, Circumstances, and Fire Prevention" for male quartet, and a string quartet transcription of the Flying Dutchman Overture (which "includes all the mistakes ever made by any orchestra"), Minimax is an example of Hindemith's incidental music unpublished during his lifetime. His exuberant sense of humor and love of parody eventually got him in trouble and his music banned.
