Bell performs on the celebrated 1713 "Gibson ex Huberman" Stradivarius violin, an instrument with its own storied history. He famously participated in a 2007 Washington Post social experiment, playing incognito in a D.C. subway station during morning rush hour, which sparked international discussion about art, context, and perception.
Beyond his prolific solo work, Bell is an avid chamber musician and has served as Music Director of the esteemed Academy of St Martin in the Fields since 2011, leading the orchestra from the concertmaster chair in the tradition of its founder, Sir Neville Marriner.
