You need only take a look at the instruments used on this selection to realize that it is a bit unusual. Maddy Prior, known mainly for her work with Steeleye Span, and the Carnival Band readily admit that their versions of these carols are not authentic ("Angels from the Realms of Glory" is defined as "a mixture of Cajun fiddle and New Orleans marching band”). They feel, however, that in following the spirit of the originals, they are true to them and to the meaning of Christmas. This selection has rapidly become a favorite with the staff of the Society; we guarantee that you will be spellbound by it, too.
