Bach: Trio Sonatas - Langfort, Tichy, Reissburger, Kury, Kakuska

Out of Bach's vast output, the Schmieder catalog lists close to eleven hundred works: comparatively little has remained unknown. The four trio sonatas recorded here are comparatively obscure for two reasons: firstly, the combinations of instruments they call for have stood in the way of frequent public performance; and secondly, three of them are of uncertain authenticity. Their polyphonic chamber quality makes them more suitable for home than for public performance, but those who cannot perform them themselves will find it highly rewarding to listen to them.
