At the conclusion of an interview with Down Beat magazine about ten years ago, the question was asked: "What is it that you would like to accomplish that you haven't done before?" The answer was: "I would love to have a son .... " Well, since that interview, fulfillment of that desire has been twofold. A beautiful son and lovely daughter have brought much joy, purpose and responsibility to my life. In order to fulfill parental obligations, the decision was made to place the role as father ahead of career. Thus, after vigilant oversight during the first seven critical years of my children's development, the first album to be recorded for release has been completed. My tenure and association with Quincy Jones, The New York Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Mango Santamaria and many others, contributed to the variety of Jazz, classical, and Latin colors all contained in this music mixture. No man ever creates anything, he simply rearranges what is already here. Thanks to JAH (HALLELUJAH!!!) for the wonderful creation of music. May it begin to hold its rightful place in the lives of mankind. -hubert laws
