From the opening bars of this recording, you know you are in for a good time. Of course, anyone who has heard of Kenny Davern before will already know that. He is the real thing in the world of jazz, a musician with a growing international reputation. Some thirty years ago, he made his recording debut as clarnetist in Jack Teagarden's band. Since then Kenny has toured and recorded with many of the giants of jazz...This is Kenny Davern today, in peak form, working with a trio of inspired musicians. Kenny is a passionate man and a person of great enthusiasm and sensitivity; these qualities shine through on every selection on this recording.

The emphasis is on relaxed tempoes (although not exclusively) on this fine small-group swing date. Clarinetist Kenny Davern teams up with guitarist Howard Alden, bassist Phil Flanigan and drummer Giampaolo Biagi for some intimate renditions of such tunes as "Pretty Baby," "Comes Love," "Pee Wee's Blues" and "Oh, Baby." Although this CD is not quite essential, Davern has yet to record an uninspired record and his fans will have no difficulty enjoying the music.
