Although we are by now quite familiar with music by the various composing members of the Bach family, knowledge of the Mozart family is generally confined to the music of Wolfgang Amadeus and to a few works by his father, Leopold. This record introduces the listener to a third member of the family. In tracing the musical line from grandfather Leopold (1719-1787) through Wolfgang Amadeus (1756-1791) to Franz Xaver Wolfgang Mozart (1791-1844), we are practically following music history from early Rococo through late Rococo to Classicism.
